In an Industry Spotlight interview with Telecom Ramblings, China Telecom Americas’ (CTA) Vice President, Luis Fiallo, discussed the company’s history and global approach to solving complex IT challenges for the world’s largest organizations.

“Over time, as China continued to evolve and more Chinese companies started going abroad, we flipped to also helping Chinese companies get access to the U.S. and the rest of North America,” Fiallo explained in the Telecom Ramblings article.

As for how the global communications landscape continues to evolve, Fiallo noted that events such as the pandemic will move more businesses to the Cloud, as well as expedite further migration to the edge. As a result of this shift, CTA is focusing on providing additional Cloud and networking resources for expanded edge access worldwide.

“Our focus is now on building everything in the Cloud and the Edge, and helping people get to their core infrastructure back at the enterprise level. It’s a shift in thinking, and we believe that’s the future of communications,” Fiallo stated.

Fiallo concluded by explaining CTA’s involvement with Mutually Agreed Norms for Routing Security (MANRS) and why the company has invested in making sure CTA’s networks are MANRS conformant. He went on to explain that without the education and promotion of the safer data routing practices that MANRS provides, transitioning to remote operations would have been a much more difficult process during the pandemic.
