Trans Pacific Express Transmission Service Bridging Americas and Asia with Next Generation DWDM Technology

China Telecom Americas offers Trans-Pacific Express (¡®TPE¡¯), the first next-generation, multi-terabit level undersea optical cable system directly linking the U.S. and East Asia-China mainland, Japan, South Korea and Taiwan. China Telecom is one of the consortium members for TPE construction.

The construction project is scheduled into two Phases.  Phase I, set for Q3, 2008, includes five cable landing stations (¡®CLS¡¯) construction in China (Qingdao and Chongming), Korea (Keoje), Taiwan (Tanshui) and the U.S. (Nedonna), and the cable links between and among these cable landing stations.

The construction of Shin Maruyam CLS in Japan and cable connection west to China and east to the United States will be launched in Phase II in 2009.
